Paul is England’s most recent World Champion winning the WKF World Championships in Monterrey, Mexico in 2004. Paul fought at -60kg which is the lightest weight category.
Paul was selected to fight for England in 1998 when he was 20 years old which meant he was selected for the seniors and never fought for the juniors at international level.
Paul’s rival during his karate career was Milo Hodge who was the total opposite to Paul as he liked to use kicking techniques whilst Paul was lightening fast with his hands.

In between winning these major medals, Paul also attended International Open Championships such as the Dutch Open, Paris Open and Wasquehal & Jersey Open. Paul medaled at every international tournament making him one of the most successful karate fighters in the country.
On achieving gold at the World Championship in Mexico 2004, Paul went straight into professional boxing having no experience at amateur level. Paul travelled to Sheffield at least 3-4 times a week to ensure he had the best sparring partners.
